2019 Ford Transit for Sale in Hawthorne, CA
The Ford Transit has become such a legend
among commercial vehicles in its native Europe, "Transit" has become
something of a derivative term for cargo vans in general. The Ford has been
real workhorse for hundreds of thousands of small, medium and large businesses
for many decades, so it shouldn’t have been a surprise that it's been a massive
hit here too. If you’re in the market for a new cargo van, here's what to
expect from the 2019 Ford Transit.
New
features for 2019
Cargo
vans don’t tend to get updated as much as retail vehicles, but when they do,
the changes are largely aimed at enhancing practicality. This year's new
enhancements across the lineup are being designed to make this vehicle which is
now so trusted by fleets, small business customers and families more capable
than ever. This year, the standard rear cargo door hinge opening angle has been
increased from 237 degrees to 253 degrees and a rear recovery eye is now standard.
Small changes, but users will notice.
Styling
For
cargo vans of the past, styling was sometimes a bit of an afterthought. Businesses
now appreciate a cargo van is actually an available blank advertising space as
well as a business tool, so the overall impression it presents is now
increasingly important. The Transit might not be quite as accomplished in this
area as its noted German rival just yet, but the Ford's clean, modern lines and
inoffensive front fascia are streets ahead of some of the segment's other
ageing offerings. It might not be a Mustang, but it's still a pretty good look
for any business to have fronting its road-going operation.
Variants
The
fact there are so many different ways to specify a Transit from the factory is
one of its many great strengths. The Transit is available as a cargo van, a passenger
van, a cutaway, and chassis cab. Passenger wagon versions of the Ford come in
XL and XLT trim levels, but all other versions are simply Transits that can be
optioned as required. There are two wheelbases of Regular and Long, and three
different roof heights which are Low (LR), Medium (MR) and High (HR). The
Transit is available in 150, 250 and 350 variants, and 350s come in a
heavy-duty dual rear wheel (HD DRW) format.
Powertrains
There's
an impressive lineup of three different engines in the 2019 Ford Transit range,
which really does cover all the commercial bases between them. The standard engine
is a 3.7-liter gas V-6 developing 275 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, but
if more power and capability is needed there's the option to upgrade to a
3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo. The 3.5 puts 310 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. at
the Transit's disposal, but that's certainly not the end of the story. Lots of
users want a diesel for the better fuel economy, and Ford has been happy to
oblige with a 3.2-liter Power Stroke five-cylinder turbodiesel that puts out
185 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. All versions of the Transit are rear-wheel
drive, and all three engines utilize a six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard
features
Standard
features include front air conditioning, power front windows, an AM/FM stereo
with audio input jack and digital clock, a rearview camera, and MyKey technology
to help encourage responsible driving. A large number of packages are available
for tailoring the Transit to your individual needs, which include the Ambulance
Prep Package, Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, Premium Package and plenty more.
